As the biggest inland metropolis featuring mountains and rivers in the world, Chongqing covers an area of 82,000 km2 and has a population of more than 33 million. Chongqing is also a nationally famous historical and cultural city with history of more than 3'000 years. In the year 2017 and 2018, Chongqing topped the list of the world’s top ten fastest-growing tourist cities for two consecutive years, according to the reports of World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC).

On August 30, 2019, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, in co-organization with the Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Swiss-Chinese Association are holding an event on Chongqing (China): A Land of Natural Beauty, A City with Cultural Appeal at the Zürich Marriott Hotel.

The purpose of this event is to promote Chongqing as a travel destination and it will feature speeches delivered by the Governor of the Swiss Canton of Zurich, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Zurich and the Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, along with other important guests and interesting activities.
