From the desk of our SHKBA President
|
Dear Members and Friends
Just two weeks ago, we held our flagship event of the
quarter, "Hong Kong – A Gateway for Family Offices," and we were
thrilled to see over 100 participants join us. The event featured distinguished
panelists from academia, banking, and business sectors, who shared their
insights on the advantages of establishing family offices in Hong Kong.
The discussion highlighted Hong Kong's strategic benefits
and its potential as a leading family office hub. The significant interest and
diverse attendance reaffirmed Hong Kong's status as an attractive financial and
business center for operations with mainland China and across Asia.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated
and contributed to the event's success.
Your enthusiasm confirms our belief in Hong Kong's enduring
appeal for business ventures. If you're considering expanding to Hong Kong or
wish to discuss your business strategies, we would love to hear from you.
We are excited to plan more events in the coming months for
you, our dear members. Stay tuned for more updates in the second half of 2024!
We wish you a wonderful summer!
Best wishes

UBS chief executive Sergio Ermotti has warned that Switzerland risks being overtaken as the world’s wealth management hub if policymakers overreact to the fall of Credit Suisse. Ermotti, who was drafted back in as head of Switzerland’s biggest lender just days after it rescued its former rival last year, said the country needed its banks to be able to compete globally.

Kicking into high gear

Hainan — an island province off the Chinese mainland’s southern coast — may be raising its standing as a prime duty-free market, but does it threaten Hong Kong’s global reputation as a shopping paradise? Industry watchers believe neither the special administrative region nor the tropical island, dubbed “Asia’s Hawaii”, could substitute each other but, instead, can create great synergy in tourism consumption and can each compete on the world stage in different spheres, given their distinct specialties and positions.
