3. CBAM – Trade Impact on Chinese Companies by PwC Switzerland
A lot of noise is happening around the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism or carbon tax in Europe. The European Union introduced these rules from the 1st of October 2023 and they cover a wide range of product categories originating from outside the European Union, for instance iron and steel (even bolts and screws), aluminum, electricity, etc. and more yet to come. The European customers as importers of the CBAM goods are highly dependent on the assistance and cooperation of Chinese manufacturers, as only they can determine and provide product-relevant information such as embedded emissions, origin, production routes, etc. Even closer cooperation between Chinese and European business partners will therefore be essential to ensure compliance with CBAM.
Oliver Hulliger and Dora Forgacs from PwC Switzerland will guide you through the functionality of CBAM and give practical insights to ensure a smooth transition into efficient carbon emission reporting.
