Every autumn, the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-CIS/Georgia (JCC) organizes a big conference on Central Asia and the South Caucasus devoted to a specific topic. In 2016, we examined the impact of China's One Belt, One Road initiative on Central Asia and the S.Caucasus. The conference titled “Economic Cooperation in Infrastructure, Energy and Trade in the Context of China’s 'One Belt, One Road' Project: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan” took place on October 12, 2016 in Bern.
The second JCC New Silk Road Forum will build on the first. Titled "New Silk Road Forum II -- China’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ Initiative: Creating New Infrastructure, Energy and Trade Linkages from China through Russia, Central Asia and the South Caucasus to Europe", Forum II will take place on October 3, 2017 at Credit Suisse St. Peter Forum, Zurich.
This year JCC is partnering with the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) and will dedicate one section of the program to a detailed analysis of China's OBOR strategy and projects. We will then zoom into Russia, Central Asia and the South Caucasus and examine developments in OBOR-related infrastructure, energy and trade projects in the region. Registration is open.
